St. Day - 0 - 6 - Perranporth - Jollys Cornwall Combination League
League leaders Perranporth stayed one point clear at the top as they beat St. Day for the second successive week. Last week it was in the Cornwall Senior Cup when they won 4 - 0 at home and this time in the league the visitors went two better scoring four times in the second half. Perranporth had the strong wind behind them in the first half, Ben Goldring gave them the lead, after good work by Kayne Trevaskis, flicking the ball past the keeper Cooke with the outside of his foot. Justin Andrew increased the lead when he cracked in a wind assisted shot from 45 yards. "The fitness of Perranporth and their style of play told in the end," said scorer and joint manager 'Rusty' Rowson, "but the young home side worked very hard in the awful conditions. "We were back to full strength and it was a good all round performance, the players passing the ball around in the difficult conditions and getting the three points." Goldring had his second goal after linking up with substitute Rowson, whose later right-foot cross was headed in by joint player-manager Ian Gosling. The fifth came when Trevaskis went through and brought the ball back for Rowson to net. When Rob Stapleton came on as a substitute he continued his scoring successes for the final goal. "We had quite a number of players out for this match and it may look a 'hammering' on paper - but but they had three in the last 10 minutes," said St. Day manager Andy Tasker. "The boys played very well in the first-half except for two mistakes and later they had a couple of good chances." Matt Witts and Simon Horner did them proud in the middle of the park. One of the best opportunities came when Rick Smith put in a header, from a left-wing cross, that brought a superb save from visiting keeper Andy Butcher, and another when substitute and veteran marksman Rodney Gregory's shot whent just over the cross-bar.

Mevagissey Reserves - 1 - 4 - Perranporth Reserves - Bodmin Trophies Duchy League Division 5
Perranporth ventured to Mevagissey this weekend looking to get back to winning ways. They travelled with 8 squad members missing through injuries, call up's, suspensions, holiday and work commitments. With a starting 11 and the legend that is Micky Lane as the lone sub! Perran started
strong and found themselves camped in the Mevagissey half for the majority of the 1st period. Attempts from Jamie Cox, Johnny Williams, Terry Ansell and Alex Forder couldn't break the deadlock as the half came towards a close. The a rare Mevagissey attack found there lone striker who's excellent finish made it 1-0 Mevagissey. The second half began with Micky Lane replacing the injured Alex Forder. Perranporth continued to go on attack! The second half proving a lot more productive. The introduction of Lane unsettled the home side and with Cox, Ansell and Shaun Clements controlling the midfield. Perranporth equalised with a Johnny Williams free kick from the edge of box, then a second soon followed as Dan Penna latched onto a through ball to round the keeper and cooly slot home, 2-1 advantage Perranporth, the 3rd was a penalty slotted home by skipper Williams after a foul on Carl Laity who's great run ended in a rash challange, 3-1. The final Perran goal was another penalty that saw the Mevagissey centre haf collect a second yellow and dismissed from the game. Williams origanally took the ball to complete his hat-trick only to offer the spot kick around and Lane took this opportunity to calmy guide home Perrans 4th and his 1st of the season. Mevagissey did have a few break away attacks during the second half but a solid dispay by Joe Harper and Dan Ball in the full back positions and Andy Perkins also solid at the heart of the Perran defence meant keeper Ben Mitchell was rarely tested and only from distance. Had it not of been for a fine goal keeping display from the Mevagissey keeper the score line could have been a lot more.
